Student Achievement
Supported the development of educational resources that strengthen individual student achievement including the addition of a STEM coordinator.
Motioned to continue funding the Summer Arts and Technology Program at Gallagher Middle School. Worked with our state senator, representatives, and town council to advocate for the necessary funding to raise achievement.
School Facilities
Enthusiastically supported cost-effective investments in SPS including the construction of a new turf athletic complex, elementary school renovations, new audio/visual equipment for the SHS auditorium, a fully renovated ADA-compliant restroom at SHS, a renovated gym at GMS, and energy efficiency upgrades that will provide approximately $1.7 million in savings over a 20-year period.
Collaboration
Fostered a collaborative relationship with the community by including them in the superintendent hiring process, school calendar preferences, the development of the Vision 2028 Strategic Planning process, and graduation recognition preferences. Responded to over 200 inquiries and requests from community members. Always seek input from our professional staff.
Alternative Paths to Success
Worked to retain Smithfield students by investing in our Career Technical Education programs including the launching of a teacher preparation program and the development of a cutting-edge culinary arts program.
